Mike Barron and Steve Adler established the firm of Barron & Adler, L.L.P. in Austin more than twenty years ago to primarily and almost exclusively provide legal service to landowners in eminent domain matters throughout Texas. Today, the firm has grown and expanded, with attorneys located in Austin, Houston and San Antonio, but our focus remains the same after all these years. All our attorneys practice almost exclusively in the field of eminent domain and regulatory takings, and we take the constitutional protections afforded landowners very seriously.
Our practice is statewide and includes every facet of eminent domain and regulatory takings. We have handled condemnation cases on all the recent major roadway projects in the State, including IH-35, IH-10, IH-45, US 290, US 183 and 183A, US 59, SH 130, SH 45, SH 121, SH 195, SH 29, SH 6 and Loop 363. We have also handled many special use projects, including the DFW airport, the Texas Rangers stadium, the Sunbowl stadium, the LBJ Hospital and a major acquisition for a dredge disposal site brought by the Port of Houston Authority. Additionally, we represent clients on many powerline, pipeline, airport noise mitigation, and other public use projects all over the State.
Attorneys with the firm appear on behalf of clients in condemnation cases at special commissioners’ hearings (the administrative level), in county court at law or district court (the trial level), and in the intermediate appellate courts and the Texas Supreme Court. We have also worked to protect landowners’ rights at the legislative level. The firm was asked to participate with the Lieutenant Governor’s office to help draft the Property Rights Act of 1995.
